ABOUT EYE OF THE ARTISTS

Eye of the Artists Foundation  was established in 2001 in response to the growing need for connecting more arts programming, arts education and artists to underserved communities.  The foundation was founded by visual artist/poet Annie Ruth and is recognized as a nonprofit public charity under section 501(c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code.

Mission

To serve as a catalyst for exposure of the arts to underserved communities, with an emphasis on youth.

Vision

Empower youth and the community at large, utilizing the arts to promote education, leadership development and positive self-expression.

Values

Building strong collaborations that encourage and foster engagement of artists and community; nurturing creativity; providing positive creative outlets that educate and inspire.

MEET THE TEAM

  • Annie Ruth
    Founder
    Award wining and internationally respected visual artist/poet created Eye of the Artists Foundation in 2001 to  connect more arts programming and arts education to underserved communities.
  • Carla Thomason
    Administrative Lead
    Carla Thomason serves as the administrative lead, technology, volunteer coordinator and community resource contact for  Eye of the Artists community outreach  and major programs.
  • Gerian Johnson
    Intern
    Gerian Johnson (AKA Teniah), author of "My Daddy Reads" is an intern who works to help create programming and outreach for positive fatherhood engagement,  literacy outreach in the community.
  • Advisory Team
    Volunteer Advisors
    Dada Rafiki is the registered trademark of Annie Ruth that is licensed to Eye of the Artists. The Advisory Team members lend their expertise to ensure that the sisterhood celebrations reach diverse audiences.
